Description

There are Low Miles No Miles trucks…and then there are the honest survivor pickups that somehow avoided becoming work trucks. This 1979 Chevrolet C10 Custom Deluxe Short Box falls into that category, showing just 28,504 miles and standing as a remarkably preserved square-body finished in one of the coolest period colors GM offered.

Vehicle Overview

Finished in Colonial Yellow (Code 53) over a tan interior, this 1979 Chevrolet C10 Custom Deluxe is powered by its original 4.1-liter inline-six paired with an automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. The odometer currently shows 28,504 miles, and the truck remains highly original throughout.

Rather than being optioned as a loaded-up V8 truck, this example was special ordered with the dependable straight-six drivetrain, giving it a completely different personality than most square-body pickups you see today.

The truck retains its original paint, original body panels, original glass, and matching-numbers drivetrain. Aside from replacement floor mats, door panels, maintenance items, and newer tires, the truck remains largely untouched.

Story

According to the seller, this C10 was originally purchased new from Carr Chevrolet in Tigard, Oregon and remained with its original owner for decades before eventually changing hands, throughout its live it has always remained in Oregon.

That long-term ownership and careful use are reflected throughout the truck today. Unlike many square-body Chevrolets that spent years hauling, plowing, or being modified, this one appears to have lived a much easier life.

What makes this truck especially cool is the simplicity of it. A straight-six, automatic, Custom Deluxe trim, roll-up windows, and Colonial Yellow paint, it feels like a genuine snapshot of a late-70s Chevrolet pickup exactly the way somebody ordered it.

Condition

As expected for a highly original survivor, the truck presents exceptionally well throughout. The exterior retains its original paint with no reported history of bodywork, while the interior remains highly original aside from replacement floor mats and door panels.

The seller reports the truck to be mechanically sound with no known issues. Recent maintenance includes an oil change, new tires, replacement front left brake caliper, new wipers, and new chrome front and rear bumpers.

The underside is noted to retain only typical light surface rust on portions of the frame and wheel wells, with no major rust concerns reported. The seller specifically notes the truck retains solid original metal underneath, including clean door bottoms and body structure.

Minor cosmetic imperfections include a few small tears in the seat and cracking on portions of the dash, which will be documented in the listing photos and videos.

Overall, this is an incredibly honest and highly original square-body survivor that still feels exactly like the era it came from.

Letter From The LMNM Team

This is exactly the kind of truck we love seeing.

Not every cool square body has to be a lifted Silverado with a built small block. Sometimes the really interesting ones are the simple, honest trucks that survived exactly as they were ordered.

The Colonial Yellow immediately grabbed us. Then you notice it’s a straight-six truck, Custom Deluxe trim, roll-up windows…and suddenly the whole thing just makes sense.

It feels authentic.

This truck wasn’t built to impress people. It was built to work, last forever, and be dependable. Somehow, instead of getting used up like most of them did, this one survived.

And honestly, that’s what makes it cool.
