Description

There are Low Miles No Miles trucks...and then there are the old Chevys that remind you exactly where "Like a Rock" came from. This 1998 Chevrolet K3500 Silverado is one of those trucks, showing just 60,340 miles and packing the kind of old-school hardware that made these GMT400s legendary: a 7.4-liter 454 big-block V8, four-wheel drive, and a full one-ton chassis.

Vehicle Overview

Finished in White over a Navy Blue interior, this 1998 Chevrolet K3500 Silverado is powered by its original Vortec 7.4-liter L29 454ci V8 paired with an automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. The odometer currently shows 60,340 miles.

This is a wonderfully straightforward old Chevy. Regular cab. Long bed. One-ton. Four-wheel drive. And a big-block 454 under the hood.

The truck remains highly original throughout and retains its original paint. Minor changes include reproduction PY0-style wheels and a Cunningham intermediate steering shaft with U-joint.

Unlike so many trucks of this era, the body remains rust free, a testament to decades of garage storage and careful family ownership.

Story

This truck has been part of the same family since day one.

The seller's great-uncle originally ordered the K3500 new in 1998. It was later purchased by the seller's grandfather, and eventually the current owner purchased it from him.

For the seller, this isn't simply an old truck he recently stumbled across.

He's been riding in it since around 2003.

For nearly three decades, the Chevy remained within the same family and was garage parked from new. That kind of history helps explain how a one-ton Chevrolet—exactly the kind of truck normally purchased to work, has survived in this condition.

The current owner has added approximately 300 miles during his year of ownership.

Condition

The seller describes this Silverado honestly as a solid "10-footer" rather than a perfect show truck, and we appreciate that description.

The White exterior retains its original paint, and importantly, the body is reported to be completely free of rust. Some surface corrosion is present on the frame, consistent with age and documented in the gallery.

The truck received substantial front-end servicing in the fall of 2025, including new upper control arms and ball joints, lower ball joints, and front shocks.

Mechanically, the truck runs and drives well, though there are a couple of items for the next owner to address.

The original injectors currently bleed down after the engine is shut off. The truck starts beautifully when cold but requires several seconds of cranking when warm. A complete set of new replacement injectors is included with the sale.

The seller also notes approximately one drop of oil after parking, with the source currently unknown. This is the kind of transparency we like when buying a vehicle.

Overall, this is an exceptionally solid, honest old K3500 that has clearly benefited from decades of careful ownership.

Letter From The LMNM Team

Like a rock.

There's probably no better way to describe this era of Chevrolet truck.

These were the trucks you saw pulling trailers, hauling equipment, plowing snow, sitting on construction sites, and doing whatever else someone could throw at them.

And this one has the right recipe.

Regular cab.

Long bed.

4x4.

One-ton.

And 454 cubic inches of big-block Chevrolet sitting under the hood.

No turbochargers. No giant touchscreens. No twelve different drive modes.

Just a big gas V8, a transmission, a transfer case, and a truck built to work.

What we really love about this one, though, is the family history.

The seller's great-uncle ordered it new. His grandfather eventually bought it. And now the seller, the same guy who remembers riding around in this truck more than 20 years ago, is its third caretaker.

That's pretty cool.

It's also refreshing that nobody is trying to sell this as a flawless museum piece. The seller calls it a 10-footer. It has some surface corrosion underneath, an occasional drop of oil, and it needs the injectors installed that are included with the truck.

It's an old Chevy.

But look at the body. Look at the original paint. Look at the mileage. And then remember what usually happened to one-ton 4x4s equipped with 454s.

They worked.

Hard.

Nearly 30 years later, finding one that's still this solid, still this original, and still wearing the paint it left the factory with is becoming a challenge.

This is the kind of old Chevrolet truck that built the reputation.

Strong. Simple. Honest. Like a rock.
