76K-Mile 1992 Volkswagen Corrado SLC VR6 5-Speed
Overview
Description
There are Low Miles No Miles cars…and then there are the ones only a certain group of people ever really understood. This 1992 Volkswagen Corrado SLC falls into that category, showing 75,798 miles and standing as a well-kept, enthusiast-owned example of one of Volkswagen’s most unique and driver-focused platforms.
Vehicle Overview
Finished in Flash Red over a black leather interior, this Corrado SLC is powered by its original 2.8L VR6 engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive. The odometer currently shows 75,798 miles, and the car remains largely stock with a series of thoughtful, performance-oriented upgrades.
The SLC introduced the now-iconic VR6 delivering a distinctive sound and driving experience that set these cars apart then, and still does today.
This example has been tastefully enhanced with suspension, braking, and chassis upgrades, along with a set of fully refurbished 16” BBS two-piece wheels sourced from a 1992 B4 Passat and powder-coated for a clean finish. Exterior touches include a Euro front lip and an aero rear hatch lip, maintaining a period-correct look.
Story
This Corrado has lived the kind of life you want to see with a car like this.
Originally part of a German car collection, it was owned by an enthusiast who used it as a daily within that collection. After his passing, the vehicle sat for a period before being acquired by a subsequent owner who sold it shortly after.
The current owner has had the car for roughly 10 years, adding fewer than 2,000 miles during that time and investing heavily into proper maintenance and upgrades through respected specialty shops including Redmond Motor Works and German/British/Italian in Eagle, Idaho.
Rather than being modified heavily or abused, this car has been thoughtfully improved and carefully maintained exactly how you’d want to see one of these today.
Condition
As expected for a well-cared-for example, the car presents cleanly throughout. The exterior retains its original paint with no reported history of bodywork, while the interior features black leather seating, a functional sunroof, and has been refreshed with new carpeting, felt floor kit, and sound deadening.
Mechanically, the car has seen extensive maintenance and servicing, particularly in recent years. Work performed includes:
- Drive belt and tensioner replacement (2025)
- Serpentine belt and tensioner (2025)
- Front main seal (2025)
- Radiator, thermostat, and thermostat housing pipe (2025)
- Fuel pump and tank seal
- Fuel filter
- Knock sensor
- Spark plugs and plug wires
- Battery replacement
- Clutch master and slave cylinders
- Air filter
- Wiring repairs (O2 sensor, RF light harness, third brake light)
Chassis and performance upgrades include:
- R&R rotors, brake pads, and slide pins
- Engine mounts and front suspension mounts
- Front and rear sway bars (AutoTech)
- Front and rear struts (shocks and springs)
- New suspension bushings throughout
- Upper front strut brace
- Jute pad sound deadening
- Euro front lip and rear aero hatch lip
The car runs and drives well, with the transmission noted to operate properly and the platform feeling sorted thanks to the extensive work completed.
Cosmetically, the car shows minor imperfections consistent with age and use, including light rock chips on the front fascia, lower grille bar, and leading edge of the hood. Some scraping is noted low on the front bumper near the euro lip, along with minor wear on the driver-side rocker edge where paint has rubbed through, as shown in photos.
Additional noted items include an inoperable radio, an intermittent ABS warning light, and fog lights that require bulbs. A small rust spot is present at the base of the rear hatch window, with no other rust reported.
Overall, this is a well-sorted, enthusiast-owned example that has been significantly maintained and improved while retaining its original character.

Letter From The LMNM Team
This is one of those cars that just feels right to us.
The Corrado has always been a bit of an oddball and that’s exactly why people love them. It wasn’t built to follow the crowd, and it never really fit into one category.
Then there’s the VR6.
If you’ve been around these cars, you already know. The sound, the way it pulls, the way the whole car feels it’s something that stuck with people, and still does.
What we like about this one is how it’s been handled over time. Not overdone, not turned into something else just properly gone through, improved where it matters, and kept true to what it is.
That’s not something you see often anymore.
